Where base44 wins, honestly

Best-in-class for internal tools that live forever on their platform. If your goal is "I need a CRM-shaped tool for my team, built and operated on someone else's infra," base44 is the cleanest way to get there. Zero infra decisions, real auth wired, real database wired. For internal-tool use cases this is exactly the right shape.

The iteration loop is genuinely fast. Prompt, see the change, prompt again. No build cycle to wait through, no local dev server to manage. For exploring the shape of an idea, base44's loop is one of the best in the category — closer to Bolt's speed but with a more polished output.

Strong design opinions. The output looks finished. base44 has invested in making the generated UI feel like a real product rather than a Bootstrap template. For founders without design taste, that visual polish is a real lift.

Zero infrastructure setup. Auth, database, deploy URL — all there from the first generation, no AWS account required, no .env to fill in. For users whose ceiling is "I cannot configure Postgres," that is the difference between shipping and not.

Where StackAlchemist is the right call

You want to own the code outright. base44's primary mode is hosted. Your customers' data lives in their database, your auth runs through their identity layer, your app boots on their runtime. Export is technically possible but the experience is built around staying. StackAlchemist hands you a repo on day one — there is no "stay vs leave" decision later because you already left.

Your output needs a real backend, not a framework you cannot extend. base44 generates apps in their own framework. That framework is well-designed for the shapes base44 anticipates. A tangible example

Say the prompt is: "Build an inventory tracking SaaS for warehouses to sell to logistics customers."

On base44: you have a working app in their cloud in about 5 minutes. UI, auth, database, deploy URL. You can show it to a warehouse manager today. If they sign up as a customer, their data goes into base44's database, their users log in through base44's auth, and your business is now operationally a base44 customer with end-customers attached.
